JLPT or Japanese Language Proficiency Test for Question Sheet of the 3rd level (3kyuu) in year 1992 on the Moji Goi  section part 1 will be presented in this article.

Based on the related JLPT Question Sheet, we will give the answer generally according to the passage on the JLPT Question Sheet itself.

Problem I How to read the underlined word. Please choose one best answer from the following 1234 option’s answers.

1.川でをとりました。きょうの夕飯はそのさかなを使った料理にします。

Hiragana       : かわでさかなをとりました。きょうのゆうしょくはそのさかなをつくったりょうりにします。

Romaji           : Kawa de sakana wo torimashita. Kyou no yuushoku wa sono sakana wo tsukutta ryouri ni shimasu.

Meaning        : (I) picked fish at the river. Today’s dinner I done cooking made with that fish.

All of the options’ answer are foods. But the correct one is in the second option which is spelled as ‘sakana’ and can be translated as ‘fish’.

It is a misspelled kanji which is actually has to be spelled as in the fourth option. Kanji compound tends to be read in onyoumi generally. Kanji compound itself is a kanji which is generated by combining several kanji. It can be summarized as follows :

Hiragana         : ちゅう          +はん

Romaji             : chuu              +han

Pronunciation  : (onyoumi)      +(kunyoumi)

To be spelled as a correct word, it has to be spelled generally in onyoumi, so it needs to be spelled as the option answer in the fourth option.

The other option, the second and the fourth option are false because of the false pronunciation of Japanese words. In other word, those options in the second and the fourth option are meaningless.

The pronunciation of this kanji is ‘kai’ using the onyomi (Chinese way of reading) because it is a kanji compound which is generally used in this form.
