This is an interrogative pronoun which is used toask the time of an event or activity occurred or has occurred before. We will give a sample pattern with an example as follows :
Kanji :
Question : いつ奨学金をもらいました?
Answer : 今年から大学を卒業するまでです。
Hiragana :
Question : いつしょうがくきんをもらいました?
Answer : ことしからだいがくをそつぎょうするまでです。
Romaji :
Question : itsu shougakukin wo moraimashita?
Answer : kotoshi kara daigaku wo sotsugyou suru made desu。
Meaning :
Question : when did you receive scholarship?
Answer : from this year until (I) graduate from the university。
Another example showing the motion of movement which contain in a verb :
Kanji :
Question : いつ国へ戻りますか?
Answer : 年末に国へ戻ります。
Hiragana :
Question : いつくにへもどりますか?
Answer : ねんまつにくにへもどります。
Romaji :
Question : itsu kuni e modorimasuka?
Answer : nenmatsu ni kuni e modorimasu。
Meaning :
Question : when (do you) get back to your country?
Answer : (I) get back to my county at the end of this year。

Romaji :
rokugatsu tooka ni kimashita.
Meaning :
I came at 10th June.
4.Answer
Kanji :
来年三月に 帰ります。
来年3月に 帰ります。
Hiragana :
らいねんさんがつに かえります。
Romaji :
rainen sangatsu ni kaerimasu.
Meaning :
(I) come back in March next year.
