Japanese Shin Nihongo no Kiso I Answer Sheet Chapter 1 Practice C Part 1 Page 9

The article below introduce a sample of short conversation in order to introduce oneself to another person. The conversation start with a greeting expression which is followed by giving a name. In Shin Nihongo no Kiso I chapter 1 page 9, the short conversation happens between two people exchanging information for their own names respectfully. Below is the expression which is exist in the conversation :


Kanji            : 初めまして

Hiragana     : はじめまして

Romaji        : Hajimemashite

Meaning      : How do you do ?

There is no exact literal meaning for hajimemashite. It can be translated as ‘how do you do?’ or ‘nice to meet you’. But as for many references state, the expression itself is usually used when someone meet another person for the first time. After the expression is said normally both of the parties is going the exchange information including their names.

Hiragana     : どうぞ よろしく

Romaji        : Douzo yoroshiku

Meaning      : Pleased to meet you. Please take good care of me.

The second expression, douzo yoroshiku also doesn’t have any literal meanings depend on the situation. But in a conversation which exist between two parties containing an introduction oneself to another it will be translated as nice to meet you. It is usually used when someone wants to end the introduction part of conversation.

Based on the above conversation pattern, we will give the answer in a conversation form based on the questions which is shown in problem written in Shin Nihongo no Kiso I Chapter I Part 7 Page 8.

Meaning

A      :How do you do?. I am Ri.

Pleased to meet you.

B      :I am Ari.

The pleasure is mine.
