Japanese Shin Nihongo no Kiso I Answer Sheet Chapter 1 Practice B Part 1 Page 7

We are going to present about how to make a negative sentence in this article. To make a formal negative sentence, below are the pattern :

 

Normally we can change the positive sentence pattern below :

。。。+です

 

To a negative sentence pattern below :

。。。+では ありません

 

For an example we will give a positive sentence below :

Kanji        : 私は日本の料理が好きです

Hiragana : わたしはにほんのりょうりがすきです。

Romaji     : Watashi wa nihon no ryouri ga suki desu.

Meaning  : I like Japanese cooking.

 

So, in order to make a formal negative sentence, we will be changed it as shown below :

 

Kanji        : 私は日本の料理が好きではありません。

Hiragana : わたしはにほんのりょうりがすきではありません。

Romaji     : Watashi wa nihon no ryouri ga suki dewa arimasen.

Meaning  : I dont like Japanese cooking.

 

In Shin Nihongo no Kiso I book, there are some exercises that can be used to practice on making a formal negative sentence. Below are the answer which is made from the question in page 7.

 

1.  Kanji        : わたしは田中ではありません。

Hiragana : わたしはたなかではありません。

Romaji     : Watashi wa Tanaka dewa arimasen.

Meaning  : I am not Tanaka.

 

2.  Kanji        : わたしたちは日本人ではありません

Hiragana  : わたしたちはにほんじんではありません

Romaji      : Watashitachi wa nihonjin desu.

Meaning: We are not Japanese people.

 

3.  Kanji        : 田中さんは先生ではありません

Hiragana : たなかさんはせんせいではありません

Romaji     : Tanakasan wa sensei dewa arimasen.

Meaning  : Mr. Tanaka is not a teacher (sensei).

 

4.  Kanji        : あの人は研修生ではありません。

Hiragana : あのひとはけんしゅうせいではありません。

Romaji     : Ano hito wa kenshuusei dewa arimasen.

Meaning  : That man is not a trainee.
