This article is an article with the content of discussing problems exist in Minna no Nihongo. The problem is in Minna no Nihongo Chapter 18 Section C Part 4 in page 152. The problems is containing all combination of grammar pattern in chapter 18. The following is all of the answers of the problem exist in that part.
Kuruma (no) unten (ga) dekimasu.
I can drive a car.
The answer to the question above are two particles which is particle ‘no’ and particle ‘ga’. Particle ‘no’ exist for modifying noun. It is describing a noun. The noun ‘unten’ or it is a noun word for driving is further has a modifier. The noun ‘kuruma’ before particle ‘no’ means ‘a car’. It is modifying ‘unten’. In the end, because of the modification, the full meaning is ‘driving a car. Particle ‘ga’ on the other hand has a potential form verb following after. It is ‘dekiru’.
By appending ができる (ga dekiru) to a noun or a verb in its noun-form where in this context it is ‘kuruma no unten’ as shown in the above problem, it is expressing the ability and possibility of performing an action. It is describing the ability to drive a car.
Kanji (wa) 50 gurai kaku koto (ga) dekimasu.
I can write around 50 kanji.
The second problem has the same answer pattern to the first question above. But there is a slight difference on the answer. The answer are consisting of two particles which is particle ‘wa’ and particle ‘ga’. Particle ‘wa’ exist to point out the subject of sentence, it is pointing out for kanji letter. The continuation of the sentence, 50 gurai kaku koto is a noun implying about writing around 50. So, overall it is a noun pointing about writing around 50 kanji letter.
Particle ‘ga’ on the other hand in this context it is also a potential form verb . It is also using the verb ‘dekiru’. By appending the grammar pattern of ができる (ga dekiru) to a noun or a verb in its noun-form where in this context it is ‘kanji wa 50 gurai kaku koto ‘ as shown in the above problem, it is expressing the ability and possibility of performing on writing around 50 kanji letter.
会議（の）まえに、資料を コピーしなければ なりません。
かいぎ（の）まえに、しりょうを コピーしなければ なりません。
Kaigi no mae ni, shiryou wo kopi- shinakereba narimasen.
Before the meeting, you have to copy the documents.
The third problem is using particle ‘no’ as the answer. The particle will modify a noun which is describing it further. It is describing the ‘kaigi’ or the meeting noun. It is informing that it is before the meeting.
2 nen (ｘ) mae ni, daigaku wo dekimashita.
Two years ago, I finished college.
The last one is just keep the problem as is without having to add an answer. Since it is not necessary to add any particle or other kind of answer in that problem.
