By reading the article below, we will learn on how to ask the location of the activity happens. Normally, we use particle de (で) which is preceded with the location of the activity that will be done or an activity that is being done or has already done. Through the question which is displayed in Minna no Nihongo Kiso chapter 6 practice B part 5 page 50, we will be given a series of question in some pattern. The question consists of an activity and a location where that activity happens. Based on that question, we have to make an answer in a conversation pattern or to simply put in a paired question-answer.
We will give some examples which is actually similar with the question being given. Below are the pattern and also its suitable example :
Question Pattern with Past Time Marker :
過去形 (かこけい)
Kanji : (タイムマーカ) どこ + で + 活動
Hiragana : (タイムマーカ)どこ + で + かつどう
Romaji : (Taimu Ma-ka)Doko + de + katsudou
Meaning : (Time Marker)Where (did ) you + activity
For an example :
Kanji :去年どこで日本語の能力試験を受けましたか
Hiragana :きょねんしどこでにほんごののうりょくしけんをうけましたか
Romaji :Kyonen doko de nihongo no nouryoku shaken wo ukemashitaka ?
Meaning :Where did (you) take Japanese Language Proficiency Test last year ?
Answer Pattern with Past Time Marker
Kanji :日本で受けました。
Hiragana :にほんでうけました。
Romaji :Nihon de ukemashita.
Meaning :I took (it) in Japan.
The above pattern and example are pattern for creating a simple question and answer using interrogative pronoun doko (どこ) followed by particle で. The interrogative pronoun itself is used to ask a location which the activity that will be done or is being done or has already been done by someone. We have to pay attention to the verb which is state in the activity is in the past form, so we will have ‘ukemashitaka’ (うけましたか) instead of ‘ukemasuka’ (うけますか) where ‘ka’(か) is indicating an interrogative sentence. The reason for the verb pattern because of the time marker or the time when the activity happens. Past tense or ‘kako kei’ 過去形(かこけい)in a Japanese language sentence need for a verb to be altered, so we have ‘ukemashitaka’ (うけましたか)instead of ‘ukemasuka’ (うけますか).
Question Pattern with Present or Future Time Marker :
現在形(げんざいけい)・未来形(みらいけい)
Kanji : (タイムマーカ) +どこ + で + 活動
Hiragana : (タイムマーカ) +どこ + で + 活動
Romaji : (Taimu Ma-ka) +doko + de + katsudou
Meaning : (Time Marker) +where do you + activity
For an example :
Kanji :明日どこで映画を見ますか
Hiragana :あしたどこでえいがをみますか
Romaji :ashita doko de eiga wo mimasuka ?
Meaning :where are (you) going to watch movie tomorrow ?
Answer Pattern with Present or Future Time Marker
Kanji 家の隣に映画館で映画を見ます。
Hiragana いえのとなりにえいがかんでえいがをみます。
Romaji Ie no tonari ni eigakan de eiga wo mimasu.
Meaning (I am going to) watch movie at the cinema near (my) house.
The above pattern is question-answer paired which is generally used for asking activities done in the present or future time. We use ‘mimasuka’ (みますか) instead of ‘mimashitaka’ (みましたか) where ‘ka’(か) is indicating an interrogative sentence. The reason we use the above verb pattern is because the time marker or the time when the activity is happening is in the future based on the time marker ashita or tomorrow. But the above pattern can also be used for a present time marker. Below are all of the answers of all the questions based on the pattern.
